Just a couple of words about this topic and our stance on it!
That this is even is an issue in this day in age is f**kin beyond me. Yes, there are people all over the world with different skin tones, but that has nothing to do with what we all are. We are of the species humans, or homo sapiens. If we look into the science (notices all right wingers left the room), all humans share 99,9% of the same DNA. And that small fraction that difference us and of what is left, 0,1% is made up of skin tone, eye color and hair color.
What is a bigger factor on what difference us from each other is how we grew up. The social factor. Rich or poor, which then gives us different opportunities on education and work.
Right now, there are people in the world who flee from poverty and war (mainly from the middle-east, Africa and Latin America), and we then see the spikes in crime from these communities when they arrrive somewhere else in the world, not because they are lazy or "by nature" more apron to theft, but simply because they are not given any opportunities at all when they come to a new country and meet racism and prejudices. It has NOTHING to do with skin color.
A 120 years ago there were people from other parts of the world who fled poverty. For example, over a million "white as snow" Swedes fled to the US around 1860-1920's. A lot of them ended up in the Chicago area, and a many of them were lower-class immigrants, who did engage in criminal activities like prostitution, gambling and burglary. Since, much like today, they were never given the change to be part of the society. No chance to educate themselves or to get a job.
The large influx of Swedish immigrants, drawn by Chicago's expanding economy and the promise of land, by time established large communities like the one in Andersonville by the late 19th century and developed into regular citizens, when given the opportunity. Just like people who flee today.
99,9% of them just want to work and support their families.
